Instructions:
Chapter 1 of the text highlights seven of the properties of life. Explain how two of the properties reflect characteristics of life. Provide a unique example to illustrate each of the properties you selected (do not use an example that is described in the text). Be sure to include information from the reading to support your response.
Respond to two other students’ posts before the due date to receive full credit.
In a short essay (200-250 words), discuss Darwin’s view of how natural selection resulted in both unity and diversity of life on Earth. Include in your discussion information from the text that highlights some of Darwin’s evidence for his claims. Be sure to use APA formatting in your writing and cite references in this format.
Written assignments: Many of your assignments consist of answering questions or writing reports. In this course, it is required that you (a) answer entirely in YOUR OWN WORDS, and (b) list the Sources of Information from which you have drawn your facts at the conclusion of your paper. You are to follow APA guidelines in listing your sources. It is probably a good idea to learn APA-style internal citations, for they help you organize a report with regard to the sources of information you use. You will need to know how to use this mechanism somewhere down the road. These show that you know what you are doing (by demonstrating good mechanics), and it aids the evaluator who reads and grades your narrative.
4. Do NOT use Wikipedia and similar websites – such as Wikianswers and Answers.com – as sources of information for your reports. These are not considered to be academic-quality sources of reliable information. In addition, these sites almost always contain plagiarized information. In other words, please do not use them in my class.
