Throughout this course, you will plan a health communication campaign. The first step in any planning process is identification of the problem. In this assignment, you will identify a
public health problem or issue that you would like to address. You will focus on the problem and what you intend to accomplish with your program such as goals and objectives.
You need not examine the content of the campaign at this point.
Using the Argosy University online library resources and the Internet, do the following:
Identify a public health problem that interests you.
You will use this health problem to develop a health communication campaign, addressing different aspects in each module.
For this assignment, write a short paper on developing a health communication campaign addressing this health problem.
Include the following:
Describe the health issue, giving details such as its origins and characteristics.
Give a brief history, including the background of the problem and the population groups it has most affected.
State and explain the goals and objectives of the campaign. Focus on the behavioral and health outcomes for a specific population.
The public health problem that interest me is “Opioid Campaign
Assignment 2: Examining a Health Communication Initiative
(Please write about the Opioid Initiative).
In this assignment, you will continue working toward your final Required Assignment (RA).
Select one health behavior that is consistent with your final assignment topic and two health communication initiatives directed at that behavior. You will then compare and contrast
these two initiatives.
Note: In M3 Assignment 2, you will propose a communication plan that builds on these efforts.
Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, complete the following:
Identify two existing health communication initiatives that focus on the same health behavior.
Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each health initiative identified.
Next, do the following:
Select one or more of these health communication initiatives to include in your health campaign.

In this assignment, you will evaluate health communication campaigns. You will apply your learning from earlier modules and use it to assess two current campaigns.
The purpose of this assignment is to identify the strategies used in health communication campaigns to maximize message reach and frequency.
Using the readings for this module, the Internet, and your personal experience, select two health communication campaigns. You will describe and assess the campaigns in terms
of audience characteristics and communication channels.
Complete the following:
Identify two current health communication campaigns.
Briefly describe the campaign message(s) and how you located the campaigns.
Evaluate the two health communication campaigns to assess their effectiveness. Include the following for each campaign:
Characteristics of the target audience
Social determinants of the health problems
Selected messages and communication channels
Reasons behind choosing these specific messages and channels
Identify potential gaps in the campaigns.
Recommend solutions to minimize these gaps.
Describe the strengths and weaknesses of each campaign.

specific population by identifying and explaining its goals and objectives.
You will continue to develop this health communication campaign in this assignment.
Using the readings for this module, conduct an audience profile analysis. Include the following:
Provide demographic information about the population the health problem affects.
Describe attitudes, norms, and beliefs about the health problem as they apply to the population of interest.
Explain possible stages of behavior change or levels of diffusion related to the health issue.
Support your statements with examples and scholarly references.
Write a 3–5-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.

You will now apply what you have learned in this course by developing a plan for a health communications campaign. For this original plan, you will integrate work from previous
assignments.
For this assignment, assume you are making a professional presentation to gain community support for your health (Opioids Campaign)communications campaign. Complete the
following:
Compile all your module assignments for reference.
Design your health promotion campaign for your chosen public health issue.
Be sure to include the following as part of the campaign:
A separate executive summary in MS Word format. Download and review the executive summary template that you will use for this assignment.
A PowerPoint presentation that includes the following:
A title page
At least one slide each for the following major sections:
Preliminary analysis: Overall program goal
Outcome objectives: Behavioral, social, or organizational
Situation analysis and audience profile
Communication objectives
Communication strategies
Tactical plan: Messages, channels, materials, and activities
Evaluation plan
