Negative Space Composition Drawing Discussion
Taking your selected thumbnail which measures 2″ x 3″, enlarge onto your 18 x 24 paper. Your drawing does not have to come to the edge of the paper, you can choose to have a border, but, your drawing should utilize the paper size effectively. When enlarging, keep in mind, you must maintain the same aspect ratio of 2″ x 3″. Using the rule of thirds can help simplify this. See below for enlarging tips.
Once accurately transferred to the large drawing paper, begin to think about your design for the negative space. Your design should maintain the high-contrast (black-negative, white-positive ((or reverse) concept. Your design should also be meaningful, and relate to your subject matter.
Embed your final negative space composition into your post and explain your negative space design, why you choose to do what you did, and why you think your overall composition is effective. 100 words.
Express your thoughts about two of your classmates’ finished compositions.
