(See below for the full story.)
So that your peers can use your input during the revision process, it should be respectful, intelligent, and specific.
The length of the feedback letter will be TWO – THREE PARAGRAPHS (no shorter, no longer). The first TWO – THREE SENTENCES should focus on what is functioning nicely in the plot. The rest of your comments should be critical in nature. You should concentrate your constructive comments on the following aspects of the story that require revision:
Is the plot well-organized? Is it possible to enlarge or condense parts of it? Which plot points would you modify, and why?
CHARACTERS: Are there any intriguing, well-developed characters in the plot, rather than merely caricatures? How could the character be fleshed out further? Do you care about the primary character and their aim as a reader?
SETTING: Is the story’s setting clear? Is there a way to describe a setting in such a way that it conveys a specific mood or tone? Is the setting reflected in the characters and plot? How can the story’s setting be improved?
WHAT IS THE POINT OF VIEW FROM WHICH THE STORY IS TOLD? (In the first person, I is used, but in the third person, he and she are used.) Is it consistent in this point of view? Is this the best point of view for the story?
VOICE/STYLE: Do you have any suggestions for the narrator’s VOICE? Is the writer’s STYLE enjoyable to read? Is the writer using vivid language and words to bring the story to life for you?
P.S. Because this is not a research paper, you should concentrate solely on the tale. There is no need to visit other websites.
