Minimum Salary: $51,875.20 per year Salary maximum: $94,140.80 USD per year Overview:
Perform professional activities at the correctional facilities, such as inmate intake, counseling, treatment, and case management. Inmates are rehabilitated mostly through substance abuse treatment programs, with some life skills classes thrown in for good measure. Facilitate counseling and education for adult inmates in both group and individual settings.
Monday through Friday, normal business hours Location: Falkenburg Road Area (subject to change) Responsibilities and responsibilities:
Employees may do some or all of the duties listed below, depending on their allocated responsibilities.
Conduct psychosocial assessments of adult inmates by interviewing them, analyzing the results, and developing individualized treatment plans.
During the initial inmate orientation and subsequent reminders, counsel convicts about program requirements and behavioral expectations (e.g., one-on-one sessions, group sessions).
Facilitate daily psychoeducational groups and individual therapy on themes including as substance addiction, domestic violence, parenting, and life skills to help inmates rehabilitate.
Prepare and update case files (e.g., week-ending notes) and progress reports, as well as complete and submit other required forms and reports, and follow close out procedures when convicts leave the program.
Review and maintain accountability for client history file upkeep.
To facilitate the coordination of services and the acquisition of information, communicate with various agency representatives (e.g., Court System, Department of Corrections, Department of Children and Families (DCF), etc.).
Create a customized aftercare plan with inmates, including community resource referrals, to ensure a smooth transition following release.
Assist in the promotion and development of public and private community linkages that will allow inmates released back into the community to make a smooth transition.
Attend meetings with your coworkers.
Assist in the creation of statistical and narrative reports that detail program activities, progress toward stated goals and objectives, future program strategies, and outcomes.
Participate in various in-service training programs as well as community trainings.
Educate and train other professionals.
As needed, perform other related tasks.
Knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Individual and group counseling approaches and procedures should be well-understood.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing treatment and educational programs is required.
Physiological, psychological, and societal elements of alcohol and other substance addiction and reliance are all important.
Considerable understanding of substance addiction customers’ needs, issues, attitudes, and behavior patterns.

A thorough understanding of the counseling profession’s professional ethics.
Expertise in the use of interviewing techniques.
The ability to use a computer and its associated software.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a similar human services profession from an approved institution of higher education is preferred.
Four years of professional experience with an adult population in substance addiction counseling, mental or behavioral health counseling, or clinical social work.
OR
A master’s degree or higher in counseling, social work, psychology, or a similar human services subject from an approved institution of higher education is desirable.
Three years of professional experience with an adult population in substance addiction counseling, mental or behavioral health counseling, or clinical social work.
Education & Experience Preferences:
Five years of group facilitation experience.
Working in Substance Abuse/Mental Health Counseling, Group/Individual Counseling Sessions, and Life Skills Education Classes for the past five years.

Attendance at the Sheriff’s Office job location stated is mandatory.
Employees may be needed to have a valid Florida driver’s license at the time of hire, depending on the assignment. A full investigation of your driving history will be conducted, and you may be disqualified as a result.

There must be no dishonorable discharges from any branch of the US Armed Forces, the US Coast Guard, the National Guard, or the Reserve Forces.
Completion of a background investigation, which includes criminal, reference, employment, and neighborhood checks, as well as a polygraph, medical evaluation, and drug screening.
