I currently work for Parks and Recreation and in working with them I know that the purpose of the agency is to provide community service through different types of activity.
We work to build a strong community by providing safe and secure parks and facilities through effective leadership. This agency is a local government agency so we are very connected to the different communities in which we have parks and facilities.
There are some entry level jobs in Parks and Recreation, most come in as a Recreation Specialist and can work their way up to be a Supervisor, Manager, and in some cases can become the director.
By having knowledge in public administration and office skills this could lead me to the position of Director for Parks and Recreation. My vision would be to meet and exceed needs within parks and recreation through proactive performance management and development.
I would look to satisfy the community and city needs by developing programming that would engage people and get them to come to our facilities. I would look to enhance the quality of life for the citizens and provide a safe haven for those in need of programing to help them live a more productive life.
With this class and the knowledge that I have gained in it, I could seek promotion in my current field and could apply to be a Director of Recreation.
The knowledge that I have gained through working within Parks and Recreation would help me to have a knowledge base to run the department. The skills I have gained in leading, learning budgeting, and communication skills would help me to have acquire this promotion.
If hired for this position I would need the flowing administrative leadership skills planning, organizing, delegating, and coordinating. With planning I would have to build teams that would carry out the vision that I put in place. In organizing I would have to put together a comprehensive plan to execute the vision that I have put in place.
Delegating would call for me to find leaders within my teams to help me motivate and energize my team to complete goals. In coordinating I would have my managers develop a schedule to make sure that everyone was aware of what they needed to do and when they needed to do it.

I chose to research the U.S. Air Force for jobs. They have a position open for an administration and program management specialist. This fits my degree. “The mission of the United States Air Force is to fly, fight and win…in air, space and cyberspace. To achieve that mission, the Air Force has a vision of Global Vigilance, Reach, and Power.
That vision orbits around three core competencies: Developing Airmen, Technology-to-Warfighting, and Integrating Operations. Core competencies and distinctive capabilities are based on a shared commitment to three core values — integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do” (Administration and Program Management Specialist). Yes, the one I found listed was offered at dobbins airforce base which is about 45 minutes from where I live so not too bad. Well, the abilities needed are knowledge of administrative and management administration, work-flow analysis methods, and processes and systems. We have learned most of these things already at this point I think I would be qualified.
Well, I have managed a large group of people and I have been in customer service so I am good with the public. I am good with computers and I was an office assistant at one point. I definitely think you would need high-level leadership skills since this is the U.S. Air Force. You would need the ability to be determined, motivated, and very professional. You would have to have good computer skills.
