Many believe to call World War II as the “Good War”, very often. They refer to it as that because of two reasons: good intentions of joining the war and the benefits that the US earned coming out of the war. It is only for those two reasons, it’s called the “Good War”, I believe. Countless amounts of Jews and troops from every other country have lost their life in this war. With this alone, I don’t think “Good War” was the appropriate term to describe it; however, when we focus on the two previously mentioned reasons as to why it was called that, the case could be argued. Firstly, the involvement of the US in the War was for good intentions. It was to terminate the genocide agenda that Hitler had against the Jews and to, also, prevent further spreading of fascism across the globe. When you are comparing the intentions of joining this War to several others, you would understand that this was an appropriate and justified reason to join.
The second, and last, reason why people may have referred to World War II as the “Good War” was because of all that came after the war for the US. The most important point was that the US became one of, if not, the most powerful nations on the globe. People looked up to the US as they started to recover from War and the Great Depression, simultaneously.
The US gained great Allies (which remain the same, to this day) and have been able to sell many nations with supplies that have developed as technology and culture have shifted to huge importance, which as a result, helped them get out of the Great Depression, indefinitely.

In my opinion, I think this title is not the most appropriate title for this war. World War II is known to be the bloodiest war of all time. If this is the case then the title good war is definitely not the right title.
This war caused a massive scale of destruction and not only did they destroy land the number of lives lost during this war was catastrophic. Around 20 million military personnel and 40 million civilians died during this war due to the mass bombings, massacres, disease, and starvation. Although I think the title is not appropriate for this war, I do like to see where others are coming from when saying that this war was a good war for the United States.
The positive outcomes of this war were the fact that the war did control the atrocious of Nazism and Fascism. The war also slowed down and controlled the growth of Hitlers dictatorship. Another good outcome of this war was the economic superiority the United States now had after ending the war. Although there were benefits in the end of this war, I believe that the measures taken in order to fight this war were too extreme. The war should not have been given the title “The Good War” because it costed millions of people’s lives and also destroyed their property along with the public land. A war that caused this amount of destruction to their land and people is undeserving of this title in my own opinion.
