Requirements:
Your term paper will be a research paper that requires you to conduct careful research concerning one of the above topics to form your argument/thesis statement. Please refer to the Research Paper Rubric on Brightspace for detailed requirements. There will be two components to the term paper: 1) A proposal for the term paper (5%); 2) The final draft of the term paper (20%) and a self-assessment or research reflection (5%).
Part I: Proposal (5%, 2-3 pages, double-spaced), due by 11 p.m., Oct. 28.
Your proposal needs to cover the following items, but not necessarily in the order as listed.
Identify a topic area; findings in your research on a topic (0.5%)
Questions that have arisen in your research (0.5%)
Develop a research question (0.5%)
Develop a thesis statement (1%, one statement, one or two sentences, that usually answers your research question.) Here is a link to thesis statements.
Outline (0.5%)
Annotated bibliography (You need to add notes/comments to your bibliography to explain what an article/book is about and how it may be useful to your research.) (0.5%)
Research log (journal/a record of your research) (1%)

Part II: Final Draft (1500 words, 20%, double-spaced) with a self-assessment or research reflection (300-500 words, double-spaced, 5%), due by 11 p.m., Nov. 23.

Your research reflection should include the following:
1) Provide a summary of your research project. Describe the purpose and objectives of your research project and what you have done to achieve your goals.
2) Explain your methodology: did you apply primary research or secondary research or both? Why did you choose the method? Did it work well? Were there difficulties/obstacles? Did you resolve the issue, or is it something that awaits further research?
