Description
Doctors and scientists tell us that one of the best ways to slow the spread of the virus is to practice “social distancing,” which involves staying at least 6 feet away from other people and wearing face masks when this isn’t possible. Despite the lifting of stay-at-home orders, local officials continue to advise us to maintain social distance. Masks are still required to be worn in public places, including outside.
Some restaurants have been closed as a result of this requirement, and fines have been issued. More information can be found here: Masks are required, according to a local news story. Some people, however, have been (and continue to be) resistant to following the rules and guidelines.
More information can be found here: South Pointe Park is a park in the city of South Pointe What exactly is a COVIDIOT? As businesses, beaches, and parks reopen, masks become a flashpoint for protests and fights. Examine these materials, as well as any recent news stories you come across during your own research.
After that, write a short essay (about 250 words) answering the following questions: How have the coronavirus rules and guidelines influenced your life? (Stay-at-home orders, curfews, masks, and other restrictions) Have you had any difficulties?
Discuss. Do you believe that following the rules and guidelines is a moral obligation? Why do you think that is? If that’s the case, what do you think must be accomplished before this obligation is lifted? What would have to happen if you didn’t change your mind if that wasn’t the case?
