CIP Assignment: Contemporary Issues Project
The Contemporary Issues Project is a student-created web presentation that will address a current issue in human resource management. The following is a list of suggested subjects. These are only suggestions for discussion topics. Please feel free to switch to a different topic. If you’d want to send me an email to see if your issue is appropriate, that’s fine. It’s fine if more than one student looks into the same subject.
These presentations should be created in PowerPoint, using slides that highlight the most important aspects of your subject. Each slide’s content will be expanded upon in the notes section below it. The notes portion should represent what would be said in front of the class during a live presentation. The number of slides in a presentation should be between 11 and 13. Please provide a slide identifying your sources after your presentation slides.
You will be scored on your ability to provide original material from outside the course, as well as your analytical thinking about the subject and the clarity and creativity with which you communicate your thoughts. What the issue is, why the issue is important, how this issue relates to concepts/theories from class, how the issue affects employees, whether there are any new developments to this issue beyond what we’ve discussed in class (i.e. new laws, new court cases, recent events), management implications for dealing with the issue, and so on are all topics that your project could look into.
