Clinical Field Experience Assessment and Reflection
To support this field experience, set aside at least 2 hours in the field.
You will assess students, provide feedback, and reflect on the summative assessment administration throughout this field experience.
Part 1: Evaluation
You created and implemented a session that provided additional learning support to a select group of students during your previous field trip. You will conduct a summative evaluation for the same set of students at the end of the assessment process.
The goal of your summative evaluation should be to determine mastery of the standards you’ve identified. Review the pre-assessment before completing the assessment to ensure that the final assessment measures the correct ideas. When you’ve finished your summative assessment, send it to your mentor teacher for approval.
Give the assessment to the group of pupils with their permission. You can use a variety of evaluation methods (oral, written, technology-based, and so on) and differentiate assessment based on the students’ requirements.
Part 2: Give your feedback
Confer with each student individually and go over the evaluation results with him or her. Ask the following questions to engage the student throughout each conference.
What are your thoughts on the lesson?
What was the most challenging aspect?
What was the easiest part?
Begin with a positive strength of each pupil during this time. Identify instructional goals for the learner to work on and provide appropriate, descriptive feedback. Finish on a positive note, demonstrating compassion, justice, and care.
Speak with your mentor teacher and, if permitted, utilize any leftover time to watch and/or assist your mentor teacher or another teacher in the classroom, working with a small group of students on instruction. Any hours spent observing another school environment must be approved by your mentor teacher.
Part 3: Afterthoughts
Submit a 250500-word reflection on your experience developing and delivering a summative evaluation, as well as providing successful student feedback. Why is it critical to offer students with feedback? What good will this do them? Did the information you gathered during the pre-assessment assist you in creating an appropriate summative assessment?
