Apple is one of the companies which creates products utilizing computer technology and systems architecture. Apple has a portfolio of products from personal computers and laptops with the Macintosh, and cell phones such as the iPhone (Mitchell, 2014).
The company is able to deliver successful products through a robust product development life cycle based on the unified process model. The unified process is a software development life cycle where the processes like business modeling, requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment are done in several iterations to deliver a product (Bard, 2016).

Consumer Electronics Show (CES) demonstrates the latest and upcoming technology in various industry segments. Self-driving and electric vehicles are technologies demonstrated in 2022 by many brands, including general motors (GM) (Self-driving cars, 2022).
GM demonstrated the electric vehicle lineup in trucks and SUVs and the GM cruise autonomous driving technology with a vision for entertainment, infotainment, and safety for the car driving experience of every day. This event shows the advent of computer technology into traditional industries like automotive and the importance of system design and development to keep pace with rapid technological changes.
For example, cars receive software updates requiring a more rapid software development life cycle to learn and improve their self-driving and user experience capabilities continuously.
This requires a pivot for the car manufacturers like GM. This is an opportunity for innovative products and services for IT professionals to enable this industry to flourish.
For example, applications previously needed to be mobile-ready but will need to be compatible with car manufacturers’ interfaces to the users in the future. Android Auto and Apple Car play are some examples of this opportunity.
