Strayer Supreme Court Responsiveness to Public Opinion Discussion

least three (3) examples of the perceived effects of public opinion on Supreme Court decisions.
Summarize three (3) Supreme Court decisions that you believe have had the most impact on our society. Provide a rationale for your response.
Part 2 (Briefly Respond to a peer):
Peer: “Hi Classmate and Prof
In the activity, it says judges have the right to determine involvement in social policy. like Ashley said I think judges should follow certain guidelines when they are involved in the policy and only hear certain ones.
I don’t think that the Supreme Court should answer popular opinion. Judges aren’t elected by the general public why should they care. But there are some reasons where they might be persuaded otherwise. Public
opinion could influence which judge is nominated and elected. The second reason could also be that judges may care about the general public opinion for several reasons and may be labeled under “institutional
legitimacy” and therefore the third being people may change their opinions in response to information about what others think. The impact of popular opinion is greatest among moderate judges who are likely to
carry critical swing positions on the Court.
The general role of the U.S Court system in influencing society, is ensuring that the laws are being followed to the start to the top, and private opinions are not being considered from the bench or administration, and
concrete evidence is getting used when the decision-making is being made. I believe that there are some influences from the media like the “news” in what they’re saying may play a little part, especially if the
community or neighborhood where the crime happened floods the media and courts with some type of evidence or witnesses it can help with a court decision.”
