Creating Your Own Life Assignment
Description
We’ll look at additional general issues linked to design in the second half of this course, including how to use design and the design process, and why design matters. You’ll utilize the reflection posts from our book “Designing Your Life” to inform a final 1500-2500 word essay for this assignment.
Success Strategies
Consider answering the following questions in your essay (they don’t have to be in any particular order):
What role does design play in your daily life?
What are some of your favorite design-related topics?
What is the purpose of design in the world?
Make use of your course themes and reflection postings. As you read through Designing Your Life, reflect on your writing and what you’ve learned during the semester (this can include material from before Week 8, but it should also include material from after Week 8, or from your own research/interests). Consider what stood out to you and what was most essential to you in order to help guide the focus of this paper.
Make up a story. Organize your design concepts to inform the framework of your paper using the questions and factors listed above. In this essay, you can get a little personal (explain me why you think design is important and how it applies to your life! ), but you should also consider the impact of design on the world and back up any statements with concrete examples from outside your own experience (course material, articles, etc.).
Provide a list of works that have been cited. Also, don’t forget to cite your sources within the content.
