The Importance of Public Health Ethics Discussion
It seems that the unemployment problem caused by the pandemic warrants government intervention. A common argument with government intervention with healthcare issues like this is the struggle between ensuring the greater good and maintaining individual rights and freedoms.
This was a major topic of contention when the pandemic first started. According to Straub (2013), “The role of government in health care has expanded over the years and influenced political discourse and policy.
Whether this is an appropriate role has been contested. Still, the government, with extensive programs and market influence, is likely to play a major role in achieving better quality and value in health care and in the success or failure of lasting healthcare reform” (s39). In your opinion on how we maintain this ethical balance in these kinds of situations?
