Discussion on the Coca-Cola Distribution Channel
Pick a product you like and do some research to learn about the distribution channels the product travels through on its way from the manufacturer to you. Do not use a product that is sold directly from the manufacturer to the consumer for
this assignment. Concentrate on a tangible benefit. The goal of this assignment is to learn about the logistics of product distribution for products that pass through a number of intermediaries, including wholesalers, distributors, and retailers. Keep in mind that there are various types of distributors, and some may serve specific types of stores, such as convenience stores, while others may serve other types of stores, such as big box stores or grocery stores. The same product may
be distributed by various distributors to various types of retailers. That’s the kind of knowledge you’re looking for. Provide a visual representation of the product’s distribution channels.
You could find out this information by doing some research in the popular business press, reading the company’s annual reports, interviewing company employees, or other methods. Make sure all of your sources, including any interviews you
conduct, are properly referenced. In order to earn any points, the referencing must ALWAYS be correct (because to fail to appropriately reference your sources can lead you to charges of plagiarism). References should be included in the paragraph where the facts are presented, as well as in the reference section at the end of the document. The format for references within a document’s text differs from the full reference provided at the end. Make sure you know how to properly cite your sources.
