Essay on Decision-Making Biases
The goal of the essays is for you to apply the concepts/tools learned in class to real-life situations. You should include the following in your essay: (a) Describe a real-life situation from your own experience or one that has been covered in the media. No cases from the assigned readings or the class should be used. (b) Analyze this scenario using the concept(s) or tool(s) you acquired in this course. This can be done in a variety of ways. You may, for example, look into and identify the prejudices or inconsistencies that the persons in this case have shown, and then talk about how you could help them overcome these biases. You can also answer a choice problem using the tools you acquired in class (e.g., decision tree, multi-attribute decision analysis, etc.).
Please keep in mind:
1. In the essay, you should only look at one case. Make an effort to be innovative and perceptive.
2. I’ll show you a few of sample papers. These are good papers, but they aren’t ideal. I’m hoping you’ll be able to improve.
3. The essay should be between 600 and 1200 words long.
4. For your review, the concept list and lecture notes will be uploaded.
