Communication is number twelve.
You will create a working premarital agreement for this assignment. It must be designed as a PowerPoint presentation and delivered in that format. This is an opportunity for you to develop a curriculum that will assist couples in accurately assessing their marriage compatibility as well as successfully navigating their first three years of marriage. The goal is for you to be able to use it in a classroom or small group setting, as well as in a large counseling session with a group of premarital couples. Include a slide for each homework/activity assignment, along with instructions that capture your expectations for completing each homework/activity assignment, and make sure to use relevant Scripture throughout your presentation.
I. INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FINAL POWER POINT
Follow these curriculum guidelines for your Final:
Ensure that your name appears on the cover slide/introduction slide of your PowerPoint presentation. This expresses pride in the content and its worth.
Must cover a period of 812 weeks. Make sure your slides have enough content for each session. For each session, most students will have at least 4/5 slides of content.
A minimum of 35 slides is required. Because this will be at least an 8-week teaching program, you will most likely have more slides.
Although you are welcome to use ideas or concepts from the PrePare/Enrich or SYMBIS materials in your project, you cannot simply copy and paste everything. Many wonderful ideas can be gleaned from a variety of sources; this is something you should develop as your own.
Include an introduction slide with your home church’s or community’s premarital counseling philosophy or mission statement.
Include an outline slide for the teaching project (within the first few slides of the introduction), outlining what will be covered in each session.
Within the curriculum (working slides) and on the reference slide at the end, current statistics must be used to support the curriculum (sources must be cited).
At least 5 resources outside of the course material must be included in the curriculum.
Your “notes page” must include “teaching notes.” Once the curriculum has been taught, this is for the students’ benefit. The note pages that are built for the project can be found at the bottom of the slide.
Each teaching session requires a “significant amount” of materials. Keep in mind that you could teach this to a group of people in your church or community. Two slides on a topic are insufficient to keep you moving and/or your couples engaged. The majority of sessions will last an hour or an hour and a half. You must include a reference/bibilograph slide at the end of your teaching presentation to provide content for your couples.
To see what the finished project might look like, look at the sample provided in the Assignment Instructions folder. Please keep in mind that the sample isn’t perfect, so use the directions on this paper to guide your work.
NOTE:
1. Use at least 7 textbooks as references in addition to the Bible.
2. Thorough proofreading of the Power Point, as I will not accept it unless it is thoroughly proofread.
