Financial Ratio Analysis of Amazon, an Electronic Commerce Firm
You’ll start working on a project that’ll be due in the fourteenth week. For your assignment, which is due in week fourteen, you must choose a publicly traded firm. The term “publicly traded” refers to a stock that is traded on a stock exchange such as the New York Stock Exchange or the NASDAQ. This is critical because your company’s financial statements and notes will be required. For a private corporation that is not required to share this information, this would be impossible to locate. Check your company’s website if you’re not sure if it’s publicly traded. This information will be detailed in the “investor relations” section.
Then look for their most recent annual report, which you will use to start working on the project.
You looked up the annual report of a publicly traded corporation. I’d like you to run a ratio analysis on their financial accounts now that you have their financial information. This week, concentrate on the financial statement analysis chapter (PDF). For the past two years, you should compute ratios for your organization. For your firm, do not compute each ratio you learnt about. There may be a few that aren’t applicable. Rather, concentrate on the eight ratios that you believe are the
most crucial and useful in assessing your company’s performance. Make sure that the ratios you use in your analysis are justified. Compare your company’s performance to industry averages. Are there any positive or negative tendencies that
you’ve noticed? Is there anything that stands out as particularly nice or bad? Do you have any recommendations for how they could improve these ratios? Please consider your findings for each of the eight ratios. Then, during your virtual
residence, compile your results into a 15-minute presentation. Include some background information about your company in your presentation.
Specifics of the submission:
For your presentation, please use PowerPoint.
