Grounded Theory Case Study Political Science Paper
Sources:12
Subject: Political science
Topic: Grounded Theory Case Study
Paper details:
Instructions Select a case study that you would like to examine in depth. A case might be a specific peacekeeping mission or a civil war or a specific group of people, like a drug cartel or a terror group or it could be a specific decision or policy.
Grounded theory usually starts with observation, but we are going to use a case study as a substitute. The purpose of this assignment is to develop a case study in order to complete a proposal (plan) for your research.
It will take a few steps for you to get to a complete proposal. Introduction (1 paragraph): Give your reader an idea of why you are writing this research.
What are the most recent events in your topic? Your topic should have a beginning and an end date. It should be explored through a specific case.
Give a narrative hook to get the reader to keep reading. Put that in the very first paragraph of the paper. Problem Statement (1 paragraph): You can either use a separate problem statement section to justify the research, or you can put it in the introduction.
Either way, this needs to be included to show why you are asking your question and why this is an important issue. Research Question: Take one of the topics above and turn it into a question.
State this in the form of a single, clearly worded open-ended question that is not able to be answered with a “yes” or “no” response. This should be the conclusion to the introduction. Grounded Theory Case Study (about 6-8 pages): In an attempt to answer the research question, you will use a specific case, event, policy, or group.
Make sure that your data has a beginning and an end. As you describe your topic, you will start to organize the facts of your case study into categories. The organization (or coding) of the data should come naturally from a deep reading of the facts.
These will become your variables; use them as headings for the case study.
We will be using the inductive idea of grounded theory to write complete research paper (starting with facts). You will begin with some broad ideas, and eventually, you will have some categories and measurable concepts through constant analysis while you read the facts.
Then you will hypothesize what the relationships are among the facts and eventually in the final paper test those relationships with a well-known theory. Hypothesis and Conclusion (1 paragraph):
This should be your best guess at what you think the answer to your question is based on your case study. Technical Requirements: Your paper should be about 6-8 pages long (the Title and Reference pages do not count towards the minimum limit). Scholarly and credible references should be used.
A good rule of thumb is at least 2 scholarly sources per page of content. Type in Times New Roman, 12 point and double space.
Students will follow the current Turabian Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework.
Points will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedic type sources. It is highly advised to utilize books, peer-reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, etc. All submissions will be graded using the assignment rubric.
