Students are instructed to make a PowerPoint presentation detailing the development of each theory after learning about Cognitive Psychology and Humaistic Psychology, covering significant theorists, main ideas, and ways of conceptualizing and treating problems. Students will identify historical antecedents of preceding philosophies/intellectual traditions (1 slide per theory), identify and describe key figures and tenets of Cognitive Psychology and Humanistic Psychology (1 slide each theory), and discuss each theory’s views on the etiology of disorders, approach to diagnosis, and views on prognosis for diagnosed individuals (1 slide each theory) (1 slide per theory). At least one slide analyzing the strengths and flaws of each theory, as well as a slide comparing them to a Christian Worldview, should be included in the project. Finally, the slides should have some sort of visual assistance to aid in the description of the material presented (e.g., picture, graphic, symbol).
Guidelines:
The presentation, excluding the title page and references, should be no less than 8 slides long.
At least four sources outside of the textbook should be used to support/cite the presentation.
Wherever possible, pictures and images should be used to complement the text rather than just to decorate the slide.
The slides should demonstrate a thorough comprehension of each theory’s evolution.
The project should be formatted according to APA rules, which include proper grammar, spelling, and citations, among other things (as necessary)
All factual information should be cited in-text, and the project should contain an APA reference page with reference information for the mentioned materials.
