Importance of Normally Distributed Population in Data Analysis
Importance of normally distributed population in data analysis?
The importance of having a normally distributed population is that it makes the calculation of the important aspects of the data set like the mean, variance, standard deviation and other aspects to be easier and more workable. Perhaps it enables the calculation of the central tendency which is an important aspect in data analysis. It helps in the in the calculation of the median, mode and the mean. Therefore, a normally distributed data will prevent one from making the wrong conclusion about a population.
Determine whether this population of daily hires is normally distributed or not?
The maximum daily hire is 63,732 while the minimum daily hire is 3,593. The range between the two values is two high and therefore meaning that the data is much distributed, perhaps it may fail to be normally distributed. Daily number of hires is difficult to predict, because it can either be high, low or average.
The distribution of the data is not normally distributed since the bars in one side are not actually the mirror image of the other side. The histogram fails to form a symmetric shape and therefore don’t meet the required shape to be considered normally distributed but rather forms a comb distribution, since the bars are in alternation of tall and short bars. It therefore means that the mean, mode and the standard deviation for the sample are not equal.
How do the mean and SD change with sample size?
The mean and the standard deviation are changing as the sample size get changed. It basically means that the number of higher over the given period is not normally distributed. The number of higher per day is not that equivalent to the mean, but rather above or below the mean number.
The mean forms the basis of the number of hires that take place over the period that the data was collected.
The standard deviation in this case is a large value; it means that the numbers of bikes that are hired on a daily basis are far away from the mean average of hires over the given period. It means that the data number of bikes that were hired on a daily basis were highly distributed, meaning that they were not concentrated on a specific number per day.
. Comment on your results. How might this data be used to efficiently allocate resources within FL
Highest number of hires happen on________. The least daily number of hires is on_______. As the new director of the transport for London’s bike hire scheme, I will allocate more of the bikes on _______ to the docks and also reduce the once to allocate on ________from the docks.

Major Assumptions and Bias of The Drug Industry
Read Case 3.2: Battling Over Bottled Water, located here or on page 109 in your textbook. Nestlé holds a 99-year lease for the land that the Sanctuary Spring sits on. While lease-holders are generally understood to be able to make full use of their land, when public resources are involved, they are limited to “reasonable uses.” Review the case study and formulate an argument either supporting or challenging this distinction. Support your reasoning by addressing key ways in which benefits and burdens are being distributed between Nestlé and the community in this case.
Select one (1) of the following terms: structuralism, economic capital, and social capital, and provide one (1) example of the term using your personal experience, from your family or work environment.
Evaluating Bias in Research Read the article titled, “As drug industry’s influence over research grows, so does the potential for bias,” located athttp://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/as-drug-industrys-influence-over-research-grows-so-does-the-potential-for-bias/2012/11/24/bb64d596-1264-11e2-be82-c3411b7680a9_story.html.Write a one to two (1-2) page essay in which you:
Identify the first step in the student’s guide to research.
Define the first step of research in your own words.
Identify the major assumptions and bias of the drug industry that underlie drug research.
Identify the personal bias that you, as a consumer, have on the drug industry’s influence over research.
110 Field of Environmental Engineering Assignment

Homework #7
Due: 10/20/16 by 2pm
Place in my mailbox (West 134G) or Email to
Read the River Continuum Concept article on Blackboard under “other course documents.”
Write a 1-2-page typed memo describing the River Continuum Concept to a client. Be sure that the memo is in your own words and carefully cite the RCC article as needed. Include the RCC article in your works cited at the bottom of your memo.
Specifically address the following points:
Why the River Continuum Concept is relevant to the field of environmental engineering (why your client should care about it).
Five main takeaways from the RCC (sum up five of the most important points the RCC embodies, in your opinion).
How the RCC can inform us about the water quality of water bodies in a watershed.
Note: ABET-Accreditation Student Learning Outcomes for this assignment include:
An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams
h) The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
