Internal and external elements that influence organizational behavior (MGMT615)
By researching and interpreting scholarly papers, the student will get familiar with academic quality research and the university’s online library, and will be able to identify and assess the internal and external elements that influence organizational behavior.
The scenario: Your boss overheard you telling a coworker that you are enrolled in a UMGC graduate-level organizational behavior class. He recalls his undergraduate course on organizational behavior and recognizes how valuable the information he gained has proven to be over the years. He has recently felt overburdened by changes that compel him and his employees to react rapidly to situations that he does not always know how to resolve properly. Professional development is a lifelong endeavor, he has learned through experience. To that end, he’d like you to find some articles on the following topics for him to read: Workplace Environments, Flat Organizational Structures, Organizational Behavior, or Virtual Workplace. The following are the issues he wants you to address:
Step 1: Conduct a search for at least 3 scholarly papers on internal and external factors that influence organizational structure and culture, as well as their link to organizational behavior, using OneSearch in the online library.
The papers should include both present and prospective workplace transformation triggers. As a result, the research papers must have been published within the last five years. Internal and external impacts on structure, culture, and workplace behavior should be considered when choosing articles.
Step 2: Here is some help with writing the annotated bibliography. As suggested by the format, the articles should be summarized in 2-3 paragraphs.
Step 3: Analyze and explain the articles as a whole to see how internal and external influences influence workplace behavior. This portion should consist of two paragraphs that support how the internal and external elements described in the selected articles can/do create a shift in workplace behavior, and ultimately organizational structure and culture, using various course readings and UMGC library research.
Step 4: Finish the report with a two- to three-paragraph discussion of which of the variables described in the selected articles pose the greatest danger to effective internal and external management. You must choose one (internal or external reasons that pose the greatest threat) and defend/support your stance using APA formatted in-text citations. Make careful to explain your decision and include examples and logic from class readings about modern organizations.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION PREPAREATION:
Read the assignment’s grading rubric!
Examine the directions to ensure that all aspects of the task have been addressed.
Students are encouraged to support their ideas, reasoning, and conclusions with a range of course readings and UMGC library research. Use the Internet sparingly.
To guarantee that your final submission includes a Title Page, In-Text Citations, and a Reference List, follow the APA style requirements.
Avoid using straight quotations unless absolutely necessary. This means you shouldn’t use more than four words from a source document in a row. Instead, interpret the source material’s meaning and communicate it to your reader in your
own terms. This demonstrates your comprehension of the content while also making it relevant to the assignment’s goals. An in-text citation is essential to attribute the material to the source author, even if it is not quoted directly. In the
citation, include the page or paragraph number.
The analysis should begin with an opening paragraph that indicates what you plan to cover in the body of the paper in a clear and concise manner.
The analysis should conclude with a conclusion/summary paragraph that describes everything you covered in the body of the paper clearly and simply.
It is necessary to write in the third person. Third-person writing excludes the usage of I, me, my, we, or us (first-person writing), as well as you or your (second-person writing). View this link for further information on how to write in the third
person: https://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person
Because contractions are not utilized in business writing, students are not expected to use them in this project.
The page must be double-spaced, with 1-inch margins and a font size of 12 pt.
Place the completed paper in the appropriate assignment folder. Students will not be authorized to make modifications or submit another paper once it has been submitted for marking (unless otherwise instructed by the professor).
NOTE: All work submitted must be your own original work. You are not permitted to use any other student’s work, the Internet, or an online clearinghouse. You must be aware of the Academic Dishonesty and Plagiarism Policy, as well as the
fact that it is your obligation to learn about instructor and general academic requirements for correct citation of sources, as outlined in the APA Publication Manual, 7th Edition (Students are held accountable for in-text citations and an
associated reference list only).
