IT 210 Business Systems Analysis Essay
Module Overview
Now that we have established a basic understanding of business systems, e-commerce and e-business, and data, as well as their importance to business strategy and solving business problems, we will continue our technology journey by focusing on mobile computing and mobile commerce in this module. Mobile computing is a technology that enables us to transmit data, voice, and video wirelessly. For example, our smartphones, wireless notebooks, and tablets all use wireless technology. Likewise, mobile commerce allows users to buy and sell goods and services using wireless devices.
In a traditional computing environment, we have to sit at a desk to access a wired computer and use its applications. Wired computing resources can hamper employees who need to be mobile. As a result, mobile computing and mobile commerce have become an integral part of business, the mobile workforce, and the consumer population. However, mobile computing comes with serious security and privacy concerns. We will cover security and privacy in more detail later in the course, but this module provides a foundation for understanding some of the security and privacy concerns involved in implementing new technology.
There is no discussion in this module, but the module content is just as important to the milestones and the final project. You will have an opportunity to discuss mobile computing in Module Four. In this module, you will complete your first milestone. In Milestone One, you will practice analyzing a business case and gathering the technological requirements that will be used later (in Milestone Two) to support your technology recommendations. For now, act as a business analyst and read the business scenario, write out the business problem, write out the technology requirements, and then transfer the requirements to the decision matrix template. The decision matrix is a tool used by businesses when there is no clear path to a preferred option to helping an organization meet its needs. You will use it to help your business decide on the best technology (or technologies) to meet its needs. Finally, you will complete the reading questions quiz for Chapter 8 in the Wiley PLUS learning platform.
