Physical Activity Interventions Case Study
Instructions : This assignment is intended to integrate material from Chapter 6 (Physical Activity Interventions). Use concepts from the chapter (as well as, but not in place of, other chapters if you so desire) to design a physical activity intervention for the case study provided below.
Case Study :
You are working at a local fitness center when your supervisor informs you that you have just been assigned a new client, a man named Milton. Milton is an overweight 38 year-old male with a history of mild exercise-induced asthma (which he can manage with the use of a rescue inhaler). A former runner in high school, Milton fell off the wagon during college due to a busy class schedule and high stress levels. He is new to Richmond, having just moved here for his job in data analytics. Since he hasn’t exercised consistently in many years, Milton is a bit self-conscious about his current appearance and ability level, although he used to enjoy exercising regularly before he got to college and obstacles arose to deter him from exercise. He hasn’t had a chance to get out and explore Richmond much yet and learn about the many opportunities to be active, but he is eager to find a group or activity that he could become involved in.
As his trainer, you are tasked with helping design and implement a comprehensive (i.e. incorporating tactics/concepts from multiple approaches) physical activity intervention to help Milton improve his activity levels and his physical fitness. You are encouraged to include a multitude of strategies from social, behavioral, and informational approaches to enhance Milton’s activity levels.
