Psychology Project on Abnormal Psychology
Competency
You will demonstrate mastery of the following competencies in this project:
Describe the many types of psychiatric diseases and their diagnoses.
Describe the benefits and drawbacks of various strategies for assessing psychological disorders.
Compare and contrast various treatment options.
Scenario
Jamal is looking forward to finishing his psychology degree, which is on the horizon. Jamal is looking forward to a high point in his academic career: the Psychology Department has requested him and a few of his peers to participate in a panel discussion that will emphasize their expertise on a topic related to abnormal psychology. Jamal is honored to have been chosen to speak at the event, and he plans to take advantage of the chance to add some priceless artifacts to his ePortfolio.
Jamal explores the significance of science and practice in mental health as he develops the subject of his presentation. Jamal also addresses the many scientific and psychological approaches to treating psychiatric problems, as well as the ethical implications of treatment. He also explores how social support might be used to enhance psychiatric condition education and awareness. Finally, Jamal analyzes how we might improve compassion and understanding for persons who suffer from psychological problems, as well as humanize (and normalize) aspects of abnormal conduct.
You will be presenting alongside Jamal for this assignment, and you must prepare a presentation that includes speaker notes. Your speaker notes will be aided by your Module Five Milestone, as well as your reading assignments.
