Role Information – C-Suite Group
Background Information · Your group is made up of the CEO, CFO, and the COO. You are all concerned about security, efficiency, costs, and impact on operations during the transition. · In your last c-suite meeting, your group discussed the option of using a third-party cloud computing platform, such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. The option for the company to host their own cloud (private cloud) was also discussed, but no one in this group is familiar with what that entails. You’ll need to get the IT team to help explain the benefits to you.
· The CEO wants to make sure that the new solution would support the company’s long-term strategies for the next 5–10 years and support the scalability of the business.
· The CFO wants to make sure that the solution is cost-saving.
· The COO wants the transition to be smooth, with minimal interruption on daily operations.
· Your group has two concerns about hosting: cybersecurity and cost. You recognize that it’s difficult to put a budget on cybersecurity.
· Your group wants anything and everything from software products.
Scope · Your group wants the following systems in the cloud: onboarding, intranet, hosting, and finance. · Your group is not sure of everything that is possible to put in the cloud for the business to be more efficient
· Your group wants to have option to lock things down within the system as necessary.
Budget Goals · Your group is willing to pay for cybersecurity because it’s a necessity. · Your group doesn’t want to spend the entire project budget.
Timeline Goals · Your group prefers fewer meetings, but you want milestones and progress updates within the 12-month project period. Tips Consider asking questions to the IT group after doing some minor research yourself: · What are pros and cons of the company hosting and using its own private cloud vs. using a third-party system, in terms of security, cost, and other factors?
· Is a third-party cloud computing platform more efficient, most structured, and more secure than building our own?
