Role of the United States Constitution
The American Constitution is the world’s longest, active national Constitution. Here we are over 230 years later and it is still the same document (with changes) made the summer of 1787. Why is that? What about the Constitution has led to its longevity?
2.) respond to two student posts below
————
The Constitution has lasted so long because of the Separation of Powers. This divided the government into three branches with equal power, Executive, Judicial and Legislative. As a precaution the principle of Checks and Balances was also set just in case a branch tried to take over. Then the people are able to choose representatives if they are not meeting the needs of the people. It also guarantees the rights and protection of life, liberty and property. The Constitution man meet the changing conditions and needs of the country, so this is why the Constitution has lasted for so many years.
————-
Personally, in my opinion, the constitution is the longest active because it simplifies things for all of the nation to understand, and other then the 33 amendments added in 1787 it is personally easy to understand. It’s in a way kind of a document of basic principles to live by here in our states. I mean what’s easier to understand “freedom of speech” freedom to assemble, it’s very simple. I think that the significance is what made this document last in its longevity because, this was a time in our history that our founding fathers gathered together even those who had such different point of views, and still were able to come together and create a document that has lasted over 230 years! that alone should show that we can come together as a nation and get things done.
