You have had two guest speakers, Janelle Milburn and Nancy Jean Tubbs (forthcoming on 2/25), who have enlightened us about Intimate Partner Violence and Violence in LGBTQ Families. Explain what each guest speaker talked about in regards to violence and how it impact people and families.  When talking about IPV please use chapters 9, The Economy and Intimate Partner Violence and 10, Cultural Factors and Intimate Partner Violence, to highlight some of the topics discussed by Janelle Milburn. Nancy Jean Tubbs speaks on violence in the LGBTQ community.

Please use Chapter 13, Violence in LGBTQ Families, and discuss some of the issues she presents that help support her lecture. What are the unique stresses that this community face that may contribute to their experience with family violence.  Next, Identify how institutionalized violence might impact violence in families. Please explain how the structure of institutions impact family violence. Then I would like you to discuss how religion in Chapter 11, or the misuse of religion, according to Dr. Hill’s lecture may affect family violence and how members understand their roles in the family. What role does gender socialization play through cultural messages that may contribute to the idea of domination and control in religion?
