SOCW 6060 Role Theory in Action
This week, you’ll use role theory to your case study of choice. In other words, while you analyze the case study, your theoretical orientationor lensis role theory.
Use the same case study from Week 2 to complete this assignment. (Remember, you’ll be using this case study for the duration of the course.) To help you dissect the theory, use the worksheet “Dissecting a Theory and Its Application to a Case Study.” This handout is not required to be submitted. It’s a tool that you may use to examine the theory, and then you can utilize the data in the table to do your project.
To get ready, do the following:
Review and concentrate on the same case study from Week 2.
In the Learning Resources, look over the websites and guides for improving your PowerPoint skills.
CaptureSpace can be used to record a presentation.
BY THE SEVENTH DAY
Use Kaltura Media to create a narrated PowerPoint presentation with 11 to 12 slides.
Bullet points should be used to write each presentation, therefore there should be no big paragraphs of text in the slides.
Each slide should include a brief narration of less than 30 seconds (i.e., the narration takes the place of any written paragraphs, while the bullet points provide context and cues for the audience to follow along).
The following points should be addressed in your presentation:
Determine the presenting issue in the case study you choose. (Keep in mind that the presenting problem must be articulated in terms of role theory.) The presenting problem, for example, could be articulated in terms of role functioning).
Determine all of the client’s relevant responsibilities.
Analyze the social expectations and social and cultural norms that revolve around one of the client’s roles, social standing, and role scripts.
Explain the social worker’s job and social status when dealing with the client in the case study.
Describe how the social worker’s role(s) and social position(s) will affect the connection between the social worker and the client.
Determine three evaluation questions that will help the client better comprehend the situation and are driven by role theory.
Identify and describe two interventions that are relevant to the presenting issue and role theory.
Determine one outcome that you would assess if you were to evaluate one of the interventions you are considering to see if it is effective.
Consider one benefit and one drawback of applying role theory to comprehend the case.
Make certain to:
Determine the case study you’ve chosen and accurately cite it.
Use evidence from the literature to back up your claims.
Use the APA style and formatting.
On the last slide, include a reference list.
