Introduction
Hello, are you aware that landing to the moon was not an easy journey for the American? Yeah, it was not an easy task; in the early stages, the US felt to have lost in the race, and the president had to give the entire nation a powerful speech to give the whole nation hope. A speech is one of the most significant ways that is used to deliver certain messages to the audience as well as to connect with a large crowd. One of the greatest speeches I have ever come across is the speech “we choose to go to the moon” by President Kennedy.
Speech occasion
The speech was held at Rice Stadium by the then-president Kennedy. This is one of the most significant speeches conducted by Kennedy. The speech was successful, powerful, most moving, and profound speech. I choose this speech due to the great message contained in the address of giving hope to citizens, even when all hope seems to be lost. The speech has a great message of encouraging people to be hopeful even when faced by challenging circumstances.
The speech was delivered on September 12th, 1962, at the rice stadium and was addressing the nation space effect. The speech was intended to encourage the US people to support the Apollo program.
Social or historical setting
“We choose to go to the moon” speech happens in a time when the USA felt it had lost its space supremacy. At the time of the address, there was much space supremacy where different superpowers were fighting to be the first to land to the mood. The US felt to have lost the battle as there was much technological supremacy, especially with the Soviet Union. The country was in a panic as it had lost the battle, and the president had to give them hope.
Speakers intended audience
The speaker’s audience is the US citizens, including the Apollo, where the president inspired them to join effects in landing at the moons service.
Speaker’s main goal
The speaker’s primary goal in this speech is to give the Apollo program hope as well the whole nation. President Kennedy also wanted to inspire the US citizen to remain united and focused on winning the raise to the moon. He wanted to unite the community as this would help in bringing out the best skills, sacrifices, and efforts to achieve the heroic dream.
In conclusion, “we chose to go the moon speech” was as persuasive speech and gave the country hope at a time the nation was on the verge of losing hope toward the race to the moon. Personally, like the speech as it is a persuasive speech, moving, and profound speech with a lot of hope and encouragement.
