The Catholic Church’s Origins and Causes of the Protestant Reformation
In a four-page essay, use the main class textbook, The Making of the West, to describe the causes, course, and consequences of the Protestant Reformation.
In the following order, write a minimum of one page on each part of the essay question. If you don’t follow this plan, you’ll get a lower grade.
A minimum of one page describing the Protestant Reformation’s causes and origins.
A minimum of one page describing the Protestant Reformation’s spread throughout Germany and beyond.
A minimum of one page describing the Protestant Reformation’s consequences and the Catholic response to it.
Instructions for Formatting:
Use a 12-point font, double-spacing, one-inch margins, and no extra spaces between paragraphs when writing the essay. Make sure your word processor is properly formatted.
On a separate cover page, write your name, the date, History 1, and Spring 2021.
In the essay, do not use any quotations, direct quotes from the book, citations, or footnotes at all. Fill in the blanks with your own words.
All of the information you’ll need to write the essay is in The Making of the West. You are not permitted to use any other sources when writing the paper.
Only original work should be submitted. THERE WILL BE NO PLAGIARISM.
On page four, the essay should come to a close. This length requirement does not include the cover page. Do not write any further than the fourth page. After the fourth page, you will not be given credit for any part of the essay.
Do not write “On page 3 of Making of the West” or “In Chapter 14 of Making of the West” as a direct reference to the book.
Use contractions sparingly. In formal writing, you spell out don’t as do not.
“I believe” or “I think” should not be used in the personal voice.
