Samantha Cordoba RE: Week 3 | Discussion Hi Prof Millar and classmates,HI-TECH ACT the health information and technology for economic and clinical health act is part of the American recovery and reinvestment act 2009 (ARRA).The meaningful use- is for the professionals and hospitals so that they can adopt, implement, or upgrade to a certified in the EHR in receiving payments so that the providers can prove successfully so that the certified EHR can receive an additional incentive payment.
These organizations have to be careful about how they process the paperwork for the patients either paper style or electronically because anything can slip through the crack and the patient’s identity is exposed and anything can happen then. Paper-based and electronic patient records generally are used in parallel to support different tasks. Many studies comparing their quality do not report sufficiently on the methods used.
The pros- Health care is improving all aspects of the patient care, including safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, communication, education, timeliness, efficiency, and equity. The cons- It includes the financial issues, the changes in workflow, the temporary loss of productivity associated with EHR adoption, privacy and security concerns, and several unintended consequences. They are numerous benefits to standardize the care of patients. They are labor savings, to improve the quality of care, have better documentation, improve patient safety, and reduce the costs of care. This process helps promote so many things for the patients that are in higher health risk and lack of money due to their daily health. Samantha
