Understanding of The Pathophysiology Of Hyperglycemia In The Elderly
Topic 3 DQ 1
Submit a summary of six of your articles on the discussion board. Discuss one strength and one weakness for each of these six articles on why the article may or may not provide sufficient evidence for your practice change. To study the incidence of complications in the patient with type 1 diabetes in the United States.
Item 1
Ji et al., (2020) analyzes the body’s ability to control glucose in older people diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and identifies their potential for developing vascular risk. Reduce complications (micro and macro). One of the strengths of this article is that it is easy to analyze and the data is accurate and reliable. The weakness of this study is that the data for a complete understanding of vascular complications are not very robust.
Article 2
This article provides an understanding of the pathophysiology of hyperglycemia in the elderly. It can be compared to type 1 by comparing the effects of type 2 diabetes on the management of hyperglycemia in the elderly (Lee & Halter, 2017). One of the strengths of this article is a better understanding of hyperglycemia in the elderly. This allows for informed comparisons. The weakness of this article is that it does not fully contribute to the topic.
Item 3
To understand the incidence of vascular complications in the elderly with type 1 diabetes, it is necessary to have a clear understanding of vascular complications. Beckman and Creager (2016) provide an excellent analysis of vascular complications that occur in diabetics. One weakness is that some of the results cannot be transferred to older generations.
Item
4 Diabetic vascular complications can be divided into microvascular complications and macrovascular complications. This article is useful for various complications between the two areas of complications. The main strength of this article is to help understand whether macrovascular and microvascular complications are separate or continuous (Chawla et al., 2016). The weakness of this article is the complexity of understanding the results.
Article 5
This article provides a better analysis of how type 1 diabetes develops. Through this article, we can understand the main physiological characteristics, beta-cell immunity, and most importantly, the development of cardiovascular disease (Khawandanah, 2019). One of the weaknesses of this study is the generalization of the results.
Article 6
This study relates to older people with type 1 diabetes and at the same time compares vascular complications that occur in adolescents with type 1 diabetes. According to Graves & Donaghue (2020), some of the complications found in older people are the result of complications that began at a young age. One of the weaknesses of this article is that it doesn’t deal directly with the topic.References
