Choose a local, state, or federal public safety or security program that has had a large fiscal adjustment, and have your instructor approve it.

Assume that a state reduces funds for a domestic violence program. What changes in government policy or the political process could have influenced this decision? What will be the outcome? Another example: in order to relieve overcrowding, federal and state activists have proposed reducing prison funding. What impact would this cut in financing have on the upkeep of state and federal prisons? What impact might it have on prisoner mental health treatment? What impact would this cut in financing have on the recidivism rate of newly released prisoners?
