Worksheet for a Monthly Budget Case Study in Business Finance
In this situation, you must create a monthly budget for Sophia, taking into account her anticipated cash inflows and outflows. Using the after-tax pay calculator link provided, calculate her monthly after-tax pay (cash inflow). After all of the various taxes have been deducted, this is the amount she actually takes home (e.g., federal income tax, social security, etc.).
For the retirement savings analysis, keep in mind that the employer will match 15% of Sophia’s contribution, thus no matter how much Sophia can give, they will match 15% of it (up to $10,000 per year if she can afford it).
You have the freedom to decide how to spend the money left over each month, as well as the money provided by the uncle, keeping in mind Sophia’s desire to save as much as possible.
