Living in SURVIVAL vs. Living in CREATION – Dr. Joe Dispenza
Occupational Health and Safety Discussion
Please respond to randy with 200 words:
In my organization, we are directed by Air Force instruction (AFI), which has a safety office. The fight safety officers have to go out and perform a safety spot check. They are required by this AFI to perform these spot checks weekly. The AFI does indeed provide us with a list of areas to check but we also through our trend and analyst from mishaps can add to that list. We are also required to perform a larger inspection of each unit in the form of an annual safety inspection using a checklist that has been created using the current AFI and addition to the checklist items. We also look at areas that have been found to be high-interest items in previous inspections in that unit.
That is what the Safety office is required to do. The assigned unit safety manager is supported too, again by AFI instruction, to perform a daily check on jobs that have been assigned, and also, he runs a weekly checklist on his area. He has to provide his findings and corrective actions to the Wing Safety office, where myself and my safety officers collect that information and use it for trends and analysis to look for high-interest items for the annual inspection. All reports are forwarded to upper Wing leadership as well as the Air Force Safety center for review and to be shared with another unit in a cross tell of information.
