Learning Styles involving Sensing-Feeling Discussion
Review all content in the lesson. Prepare your response to the following:
What do you believe your learning style is? Sensing-Thinking (ST)? Sensing-Feeling (SF)? Intuitive-Thinking (NT)? or Intuitive-Feeling (NF)?
Do you learn by listening, doing, watching a demonstration, etc.? Recall a time when you just did not learn something (you just couldn’t “get” it). Maybe it was because the information was not being presented in a way that matched your learning style.
Imagine yourself as a youth in an afterschool program. Share why you believe it is so critical to consider brain development and learning styles when creating programs for youth.
Use examples from the lesson (reference the readings; power point; video; etc.) to demonstrate your understanding of the content and concepts.
Respond to at least one of your classmates.

Questionnaire Results for Savannah:
Reflective: 1 Intuitive: 5 Visual: 1 Sequential: 1
“If your score for a dimension is 1 or 3, you are fairly well balanced on the two categories of that dimension, with only a mild preference for one or the other. If your score for a dimension is 5 or 7, you have a moderate preference for one category of that dimension. You may learn less easily in an
environment that fails to address that preference at least some of the time than you would in a more balanced environment.” I believe that I am an intuitive-feeling (NF) learner based off of these honest results that were given to me.
The questions I answered were helping me realize that I’ve been intuitive for as long as I can remember; I’m not exactly all about data, math, or numbers in all honesty. I enjoy asking the “What if’s” about the world, the “who, what, where, why, and how’s” about a situation, but I do need to know factual
information as well in order to form a non-biased opinion on most things (politics, court cases, etc.).
I also feel like sensing is one of my good qualities, being better able to sense a feeling or emotion from another individual has been a gift for me. I learn by watching, touching, and having it explained to me while they demonstrate it physically. I could never understand mathematics, statistics,
chemistry, or relating learning to numbers and counting. It is all very difficult for me, since I am more a visual & kinesthetic learner than a listening one. Sitting in a classroom full of other students while watching the same slideshow over and over again is boring to me, listening to the instructor or
presentation while not fidgeting with a pencil or doing cognitive work bothers me. I am a picky learner.
It would be critical for a child, especially in their adolescent years, to practice cognitive exercises that help their brain development. Crucial means that these activities would benefit their brain development for the better, giving them more access to information as well as creativity, focusing on
feelings and facts, learning what words and actions mean. The PowerPoint presentation has helped me by giving me so many examples of learning styles, as well as learning while disabled, and how we can accommodate all of them for our youth.
