For this assignment, please select a national brand/product (one that is advertised and sold to a national audience) to work on. Please email your instructor with your selection for approval. You must turn in an Advertising Plans book (see outline from chapter 7), which must contain the following:
- situational analysis
- advertising strategy
III. creative executions
- media plan
- promotion
In addition, include a title page (with your brand/product’s name and your name) and a table of contents with page numbers.
This assignment should be no more than 30 total pages. This is the deliverable that you leave with your client, so take great care in creating these books. They are an important part of your campaign and presentation.
Your creative executions will include the following:
- 2 print ads
- 4 alternative ads (you may substitute a TV storyboard or radio script for 1 ad.)
- 2 digital forms of advertising
This is a total of 8 ads. Your assignment must include all 8.
Each group must also include one promotion intended to support your campaign, generate interest, and boost immediate sales. Your media plan will consist of the media vehicles you recommend using for the campaign. Look for creative alternative media to buy. Remember your media should match up with your target market and the product. Your media budget for this national campaign is $5 million.
The campaign is worth 150 points.
I will expect excellent work. I am your agency boss, and I will grade your campaign accordingly. Excellent work will receive an A, good work will receive a B, average work will receive a C, and below-average work—or if you don’t try—will receive a D or F.
Start your campaign by doing secondary research to determine what holes need to be filled with your primary research. You are required to do a minimum of 50 surveys and 1 friendship group (see chapter 5). After you complete your research, start working on your situation analysis and your strategy statement. After your strategy statement has been approved, you may then work on your creative and promotion. Don’t work out of this order—it must be done this way for you to be effective.
