The prompt is as follows: The readings are attached. I’ll attach the lecture notes and class recordings that will assist you in answering this prompt 🙂
Prompt: Choose a film that you would consider a parody and a pastiche, according to Fredric Jameson’s definitions. Examine the characteristics that set the two films apart.
Please use all of the feedback I’ve given you in the past 500-word essay questions as usual. I also require assistance in terms of writing style. Here are some notes from a classmate: The pastiche/blank parody concept proposed by Jameson raised an important aspect of artmaking in today’s work. In this world, everything has already been invented, written, shown, and made into art. We’re always imitating dead styles, but I see it from a different perspective. Each of us interprets a concept in our own unique way. Even if we continue to imitate old ideas, I believe that each of us has a unique way of turning them into something new. This brings up the concept of adaptation, in which we all begin with the same foundation or base but take slightly different paths in terms of interpretation, illustration, and so on. Is there a problem with emulating the styles of the deceased?
Hansen delves into an intriguing topic: how American happy endings were transformed into tragic endings for Russian distribution. Finding ways to distribute American style cinema around the world, depending on genres and messages conveyed through this medium, is an art in itself for me. I never gave much thought to the knowledge that goes into determining the appropriate audiences for these films around the world, as well as the necessary changes to make them more appropriate for different countries. The phrase “recycling the ruins of both classical cinema and modernity” refers to Jameson’s concept of imitating dead styles.
However, many of these styles were shaped by ruins, which transformed them into something new, depending on what the creators thought would be appropriate. Is the audience aware that these films hold their attention on a narrative-cognitive level? Are regular moviegoers aware of the concept of optical consciousness?

Please read: Fredric Jameson, “Postmodernism and Consumer Society,” 1031-1041 (1988).
Also, because there was no class discussion, there was no second class recording. However, perhaps this link can help you decide what film to write about: https://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-pa… Please do not use this link as a resource; it is only meant to give you an idea for answering the question.
