Application Assignment: Interview and Summary
Last week you developed questions for the project participant interview you will conduct this week. Review your questions to make any necessary revisions, and feel free to add questions based on your learning this week about social cognitive theory, perhaps with regard to models, self-efficacy, or social motivation. Then, meet with your participant and conduct the interview. Be sure to take comprehensive notes during the interview and/or audio record the conversation.
After the interview, prepare a summary of the individual’s situation. Begin by providing background information, such as the task or goal that is not being achieved, how long the person has been experiencing a lack of motivation, the effects of the decrease in motivation, etc. Then, describe previous attempts the individual made to regain motivation and the results of those efforts. Feel free to include additional relevant information gained from the interview. In Week 4 you will determine possible causes of your participant’s lack of motivation based on your increasing knowledge about motivation theory and research.
