Calendaring is the 10th technology assignment

Question Description
You’ve been tasked with assisting Attorney Adams and Legal Assistant Ameche with the Johnson case’s organization. Your company has been employing a pen or pencil, as well as a printed calendar and an
erasable board. They utilize an erasable board to sketch out potential time lines before marking the printed version.
There are two significant hearings in this matter that must be scheduled. Because the local regulations appoint one judge to hear all hearings on a case, they all have to be scheduled times and dates when
Judge Kalend is available. On the erasable board, Adams and Ameche have put out recommended hearing dates for this case, and you have been assigned to check the proposed dates. They have now tried
determining hearing dates using Microsoft Excel after service of notices, as per your instruction. They practiced with a demo calendar file. Then they did one on the Johnson case, but they didn’t finish it. If you
need to attempt new dates, you can do a “save as” and still keep the initial portion of their planned plan.
The initial hearing must take place on a day that allows you to provide the other party a three-day written notice. On January 2, 2015, service was performed. The date of the hearing must be included in the typed
notification. Assume that the rules compel you to serve a three-business-day notice on the opposing counsel three days before to the hearing. Saturdays, Sundays, and Monday holidays are not counted, nor is
the date of notice service (delivery to the other law firm by one of your personnel), but the date of the hearing is.
Consider doing this for a variety of scenarios to improve your answers to the assignment questions. Consider how you may go about doing this by hand, with Microsoft Excel, or with a high-end legal calendaring program.
The judge has now notified your office that you may schedule another hearing, but that you must give the opposition 14 days’ notice. You can count Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during this notice period, as long as the 14th day is not a Saturday, Sunday, or Holiday. The day of service is not counted, but the 14th day is. Assume you won’t be able to arrange or serve notice for the second hearing until the day after the
first. After you have given the requisite notice, the date of the hearing must be the first time Judge Kalend is available.
