Creating a Blog using the Literature Review
Description
The goal is to share the research that you did for the Literature Review AND your ideas for future research on that topic through a multimodal genre of your choice. Below is a list of viable options for this kind of project, but you may also pitch an alternate genre to me if you have another idea.
Potential Genres:
· Blog Post Series ***I choose this***
· Podcast
· Animated Video
· Non-animated Videos
· Recorded Digital Presentation
Whatever genre you choose, you will need to actually create it using appropriate software and then share it with the class in a format that is easily accessible to us (in other words, do not share links or file types that require us to set up accounts or have specific types of software to access).
Assessment
Your grade will be based on the following criteria. Your Multimodal Proposal Project should:
· Clearly express the research that you did for the literature review
· Make a strong, persuasive case for your proposed future research
· Strike a balance between being engaging and professional
· Attend to the accessibility guidelines outlined in the module
· Include only original or ethically sourced media with appropriate attribution
Form as well as content matters in this assessment. Even if you have an excellent script, if your video is dark and fuzzy or fails to include the other genre requirements of a digital video (like a channel name, episode name, description with citations, etc.) than it will not receive full marks. The same goes for the opposite scenarioa high quality video with bad information.
The main criteria for grading the MP is that your digital content meets the genre conventions for the genre that you chose, that it is substantial (in other words, not just one tweet if you chose social media for example), and that it communicates your Literature Review knowledge in an engaging manner.
Answer these question using the LR and the Genre chosen. In my reference it is a Blog
Use this planning document to think through the various project parameters as well as some of the more abstract elements of the Multimodal Proposal.
What is your research topic?
What new research are you proposing?
What genre did you choose?
Why did you choose this genre / modalit(ies)? How does it fit well with the content of your research, your own author-personality, and with your target audience?
What conventions will you use and what will they look like (e.g. podcast name, logo for youtube channel, blog profile, QR code in presentation, etc.)?
Who is your target audience?
Why did you choose this audience?
What strategies will you implement to reach and persuade this target audience (refer to your forum post from Wednesday and/or the posts of your peers for ideas)?
What tools / platforms will you use to make your multimodal proposal?
How are you going to make your project accessible (alt text, captions, etc.)?
Will you use found media (images, sounds, text) and/or make your own media to include?
How will you integrate the research into your multimodal project?
What will you provide us for the rough draft (it need not be the complete composition, but it should give us a good idea of what you will makea storyboard of your video, a script of your podcast, etc.)?
Do you have any questions about this project so far?
