For the first and most important item that I think would be a necessity on this ship is simply having water because to continue to do things and work to figure things out you need to stay alive by being hydrated. Along with that, I put the oxygen tanks because if stuff was damaged due to the landing who knows how long the good air could still last?
For my last one, I decided the nylons would be the least important because I am not sure what they can be used for, and it seems there were many other important items to choose from. From putting all this information together, I think this could be an example of an unprogrammed decision which is mentioned in the PowerPoint slide, because this takes a lot of thinking and consideration to what is really important.
Chapter 8 Discussion: Decision making on the Moon
You are a member of the moon space crew originally scheduled to rendezvous with a mother ship on the lighted surface of the moon. Due to mechanical difficulties, however, your ship was forced to land at a spot some 200 miles (320 km) from the rendezvous point. During reentry and landing, much of the equipment aboard was damaged, and because survival depends on reaching the mother ship, the most critical items available must be chosen for the 200-mile (320 km) trip. The table lists the 15 items left intact and undamaged after landing.
Your assignment is to rank the items in terms of their importance for your crew to reach the rendezvous point. Place the number 1 by the most important, 2 by the next most important, and so on with 15 being the least important. Explain your decision making.
