Detecting system intrusion computer framework
Detecting system intrusion is the process of observing the actions happening in a computer framework or network and analyzing them for indications of potential incidents, which are infringement or unavoidable dangers of violation of PC security approaches, adequate use strategies, or standard security practices.
Yahoo declared that in August 2013 company has faced a significant hack by a group of hackers. This attack was successful, and more than 3 billion users’ data got compromised by this attack. Hackers made off with names, telephone numbers, birth dates, and passwords of clients encoded with easy to break security. The criminals also got the security questions and backup email to reset lost passwords significant data for somebody attempting to break into different accounts claimed by a similar client, beneficial to a hacker looking to break into government computers worldwide. After this incident, yahoo got merged with Verizon, and Verizon stated that their cybersecurity experts are taking additional steps to prevent user’s data. In addition to that, cybersecurity experts warned that many of these affected accounts belong to people who use the same password for various sites. The company later stated that the information on the credit card or debit card was not stolen. In the investigation, investigators conclude that the attackers were Russian and possibly linked to the government of Russia. Moreover, the Justice Department charged three to four people, including Russian intelligence officers, in March for the 2013 breach. Later, the company asked their users to change their password and security questions and urge people to set the password, which is not shared and unique (Nicole, 2017).
To prevent this type of issue, the company needs to deploy a network intrusion detection system at an essential point or focuses inside the organization to monitor inbound and outbound traffic from all the devices on the network (Ben, 2020).
