Superior management, advanced technology, and the bargaining power that comes with size have all contributed to the retail industry’s lowest cost structure. Walmart’s expansion has slowed as it has grown to such enormous proportions. It, on the other hand, isn’t taking its gaze away from the ball. Walmart is expanding into new, faster-growing product and service lines, such as organic foods, store brands, in-store health clinics, and consumer financial services, in order to rekindle growth. It’s also pushing for growth in international markets and through online sales. Walmart is hell-bent on making its slogan, “Save money. Live better,” a reality for as many people as possible, thanks to its obsession with customer value.
