Description
Locate an evidence-based, research study covering nutritional information related to a specific vitamin or mineral.
The article must be peer-reviewed and present a scientific study related to a water-soluble vitamin of interest to you.
You are not looking for an article that discusses what the micronutrient is, but rather a study about how a specific micronutrient impacts a specific population.
Look for studies that have the following (or very similar) section headings:
Abstract
Purpose or Introduction
Research Method and Design
Results or Findings
Conclusions
Discussion of Conclusions or Relevance
References – a long list of sources at the end of the article
View an example of a peer-reviewed, scientific study (PDF).

Example Citation in APA Style:

Purpose: What phenomenon were the authors investigating?
Participants: What was the sample population of the study?
Research Method & Design: What method did the authors use to study the phenomenon?
What were the results of the study?
What conclusions did the authors make?
Why is this article important to nutrition?
Step 3: Analyze and Explain
You will type write a 1 to 2-page summary (Times New Roman 12-point font, double spaced) of the research study keeping in mind the questions discussed in Step 2. Your papers format will consist of at least 4 paragraphs following this format:
Introduction Paragraph: summarize the issue and addresses the authors purpose of the study. Be sure the micronutrient is clearly identified.

Opinion Paragraph: address why this study is important to nutrition?
Conclusion Paragraph:describe your experience as you searched for and decided on an article.
How was a peer-reviewed article similar and different from other nutrition articles you find on the web? When would it be important to use a peer-reviewed article?
