In this unit, we will focus on the causes and consequences of intimate partner violence. Our study of violence in
families will include defining what intimate partner violence is, who the abusers are, types of abuse, the cycle of
violence, why women stay, child abuse, and elder abuse. The feminist theory and its application to the family will also be examined.
