Instructions:
Instructions for making your graph are as follows:
Time should be placed on the horizontal access (X Axis). The values should be between 1650 and 2100.
Count the number of persons who will be using the vertical access (Y Axis). The range of values should be 0 to 20 billion.
Make sure your graph is viewable and that the X and Y access labels are proper, as well as a title for your graph. You may either draw your graph by hand or use Microsoft Excel or a comparable tool to create it.
On your graph, add an extra data point for the year you were born.
Estimate responses to the flowing questions using your graph:
1. It took 1649 years for the world’s population to double, from.25 billion to.50 billion. How long did it take for the population to increase by a factor of two?
2. When the population doubled a second time, how long did it take? Is there a third time?
3. According to your graph, when will the world’s population exceed 8 billion people?
4. What will the population be in 2050 based on your graph? 2100?
(To anticipate the values based on your graph questions, you’ll need to build a best fit line and make an estimate into the future.)
I’ll be able to supply numbers for the graph later.
