The proposed group home project was in response to the increased number of adolescents in residential placements. Second, the project was meant to serve children that are stepping down to a lower
level of care from a residential setting. Additionally, it was also to cover independent living placements for children that are aging out or foster care or turning 21. Presented here below are the project
goals, objectives as well as evaluation criteria. It is expected that these goals and objectives will help provide direction to the management of the project. This will help the management to focus on what is important.
Aims
- Offer sanctuary for one year
- Develop self-esteem within one year
- Provide job experience within one year
Objectives
- Encourage independence through offering sanctuary for one year
- Improve the physical and emotional health of residents within one year by developing self-esteem
- Lessen the burden of taking care of adolescents in residential placements within one year by providing job experience
Evaluation Criteria
- Establish whether sanctuary offered within one year encourage independence
- Determine whether self-esteem developed through the improvement of the physical and emotional health of residents within one year
- Find out whether job experience provided lessen the burden of taking care of adolescents in residential placements within one year
Building the group homes to offer sanctuary will prevent homeless children and youths from sleeping in the cold. An objective that is related to this goal is to encourage independence. What will happen
in the group of homes is that all youths will be taught on how they can have their own their own homes. The youths, for example, will be taught that the first step towards owning a home is to get a job.
They will be told that the importance of a job is that it helps an individual to meet bills. Children will be prepared to mentally for school as this is the first step towards self-reliance.
Evaluation criteria for the goal of offering a sanctuary will involve determining the number of youths that have become independent after being provided accommodation. In any case, it will be found out
from the evaluation exercise that there is a high number of youths that have become self-reliant after being accommodated in the group homes, this will be taken to mean that the group homes have
achieved their goal. If the number of youths that have become self-reliant will be low, the conclusion will be that the project is performing well. New strategies will then be developed to increase the number.
Accommodating homeless children and youths will help this group develop self-esteem within one year. Most homeless children and youths view themselves to be inferior. They view fellow children
and youths with homes to be more superior than the. This as we know it is not correct. The only way to fight this kind of perception will be to assemble both the children and the youths and then tell
them that all human beings have the same value no matter the challenges facing them. Religious leaders and motivational speakers will be invited into the group homes to provide inspiration.
Assessment criteria for the goal of developing self-esteem will involve determining the number of children and youths that have developed the confidence to face other people after being
accommodated in the group homes. One of the ways that this will be done is organizing events where each child and youth will be asked to present a piece of literature such as a poem or comedy.
During the presentation, judges in the event will assess the children and youths to determine their level of self-confidence. If the children and youths will be found to have high self-confidence, it will be
concluded that the project has achieved its goal.
Group homes will provide job experience to homeless youths and children within one year. The evaluation criteria for the goal of offering job experience will be determining the number of youths that
have gotten a job after gaining work experience in the sanctuary. An objective that is attached to this goal is to lessen the burden of the guardians that are taking care of the homeless children and
youths. There are people who prefer to accommodate children and youths for a short while when they face unavoidable life events such as child abuse. These good Samaritans cannot provide them all needs due to high cost.
To conclude, the proposed group homes will help provide accommodation for the high number of adolescents in residential placements. The second importance of the group homes is that it will serve
children that are stepping down to a lower level of care from a residential setting. In addition, it was also to cover independent living placements for children that are aging out or foster care or turning
